WSOC: Timberwolves Add Forward Brooke Sylvester to Women's Soccer Program

The UNBC Timberwolves Women's Soccer program is pleased to announce the commitment of forward Brooke Sylvester for the 2026-27 season.

Sylvester (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam/Edmonton, AB) joins the Timberwolves after a decorated athletic career at Saigon South International School. In addition to soccer, she excelled in basketball and volleyball while maintaining High Honour Roll status in the classroom

A dynamic attacking player who can play both forward and wing, Sylvester arrives at UNBC with an impressive scoring pedigree. In her most recent tournament season, she found the back of the net 12 times in just seven matches, earning MVP and Coaches' Choice honours.

"I have played soccer since such a young age and I can't imagine not playing it," she said. "I love the team aspect and the way the game is played. I also love how it pushes you and fills you with accomplishment in both small and big ways."

During her visit to Prince George in the summer of 2025, Sylvester quickly felt at home.

"I enjoyed the facilities the most," she explained. "I like how everything is close and connected, especially with the addition of the indoor turf field. I also love the environment and nature surrounding the university. Everyone I met was extremely welcoming."

That welcoming feeling extended to the coaching staff and her future teammates.

"After the first time I talked with Coach Neil, I remember telling my parents how much I liked his personality and ideas," said Sylvester. "He had been helping me from so far away, without even knowing I was going to commit yet. I've also talked with a few of the girls who are coming in at the same time as me and they are all very nice. I can't wait to meet them in person."

"Brooke impressed when I saw her at camp last year with her approach and quality," added Coach Sedgwick. "She is a strong student with great character and a willingness to learn and challenge herself. She will be a great fit for the university environment and our program."

Away from the soccer pitch she'll pursue Biomedical Studies at UNBC.

The Timberwolves are excited to welcome Brooke and her family to UNBC and look forward to seeing her make an impact in Green and Gold this fall.
