The UNBC Timberwolves Women's Soccer program has added another talented piece to its 2026 recruiting class, announcing the commitment of Courtenay, B.C. product Caitlyn Kinnear.

A graduate of Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School, Kinnear joins the Timberwolves after developing with the Comox Valley United Soccer Club (CVUSC), where she established herself as a dynamic attacking player capable of playing both winger and striker.

Beginning her soccer journey at just five years old, Kinnear has enjoyed success both on the school and club stages, helping her high school capture two AA Provincial Championships while also earning two provincial medals with CVUSC. Off the pitch, she plans to pursue a degree in Biomedical Studies at UNBC with the long-term goal of becoming a doctor.

"We're excited to welcome Caitlyn to UNBC," said Timberwolves head coach Neil Sedgwick. "After committing to attend UNBC for her studies, she reached out and visited campus twice simply to spend more time with the team and show us who she is as both a person and a player. She impressed immediately in training, and with her athletic ability and strong desire to improve, we believe she has tremendous potential for growth."

For Kinnear, the opportunity to continue both her academic and athletic careers in Prince George quickly stood out.

"Everyone was so friendly and the facility is beautiful," she said when reflecting on her visits to campus.

She also credits Sedgwick's coaching style as a major factor in her decision.

"Neil is very good at explaining complicated concepts in an easy-to-understand manner, which really helps the application of these concepts into my play."

Kinnear says the relationships formed through the sport have been the biggest reason she's continued playing throughout her life.

"I love the camaraderie between teammates and the competition."

When she's not on the soccer field, Kinnear also enjoys horseback riding.

The Timberwolves are excited to welcome Caitlyn and her family the UNBC Athletics community.
