The UNBC Timberwolves Women's Soccer program has added composure and defensive strength to its 2026 recruiting class, announcing the commitment of Kamloops defender Sicily Ramunno.
Ramunno joins the Green and Gold from the Kamloops United Football Club and NorKam Secondary School. The 5-foot-11 centre back brings a steady presence in both defensive and attacking situations.

"We're delighted that Sicily has chosen to join the Timberwolves after I first saw her at a College ID Camp about a year ago," said UNBC Women's Soccer Head Coach Neil Sedgwick. "She has strong game insight, making both attacking and defending actions look routine and composed. We're looking forward to watching her continue to develop and make a positive contribution to our team culture."

Ramunno began playing soccer at the age of five and during her most recent season, she contributed a goal and an assist while helping anchor her team's defensive efforts. Off the field, she has excelled academically, cracking the honour roll five times.

"I love soccer because it's always been a big part of my life and where I feel most like myself," shared the newest Timberwolf. "I love the competitiveness and the constant challenge to get better, but also the friendships and memories that come with being on a team. There's nothing better than being out on the field with teammates and working together toward the same goal."

Her connection to UNBC was strengthened during previous visits, where she quickly felt at home within the Timberwolves community.

"What impressed me most during my visit was how welcoming everyone was," said Ramunno. "It really felt like a tight-knit community where people genuinely support each other. Being on campus made it easy to picture myself there as both a student and an athlete."

The opportunity to play for Sedgwick and alongside the current Timberwolves roster further cemented her decision.

"Neil really stood out to me because of how passionate he is about the program and his players," she said. "You can tell he really cares about helping his athletes grow both on and off the field. My future teammates were also super welcoming and competitive, and it already felt like a great group to be a part of."

Ramunno becomes the latest addition to a growing Timberwolves recruiting class which will begin training together locally in Prince George in a few weeks time.
