WSOC: UNBC Women’s Soccer Adds German Defender Noreen Weber

The UNBC Timberwolves have added another international piece to their backline, announcing the commitment of German defender Noreen Weber ahead of the 2026 Canada West season.

The 20-year-old Weinstadt, Germany product joins the Timberwolves after competing collegiately at Whatcom Community College in Washington for the previous two seasons, where she established herself as a consistent presence in the lineup.

Last season Weber started all 12 games she appeared \while also earning 16 starts across 16 overall appearances. She contributed two assists in league play.

Her consistency was recognized away from the pitch, with Weber earning Female Athlete of the Year honours as well as Student-Scholar Athlete recognition.

"Noreen brings valuable experience to our group, having already shown she can perform consistently in the North American college game," says UNBC head coach Neil Sedgwick. "Her ability to play as a defender or in central midfield gives us important options, and we're excited to see how she continues to develop at the U SPORTS level."

"I get to catch a break in busy times and get my mind off anything that is stressing me," says Weber of her love for the game. "It's nice to move the body and always fun being with the teammates. I also enjoy analyzing the video footage afterwards."

Her appreciation for the tactical side of the game made her first impressions of Sedgwick particularly strong.

"I was impressed about how much knowledge he has," adds Weber. "Even the smallest aspects of the technique are analyzed, and I believe that I can learn a lot from him."
During a visit Prince George last season, Weber also had the opportunity to spend time with several of her future teammates — an experience that helped make the decision to join the Timberwolves an easy one.

"I loved all of the surroundings with the weather," she says. "I got to stay with a couple of teammates and they have made me feel so comfortable in this new environment."

Weber says Sedgwick has already provided her with plenty of feedback on her positioning and other areas of her game.

"I believe that I will get to learn and grow a lot as a player and person," she says.

Academically, Weber will study Psychology, with the goal of eventually becoming a counsellor.

UNBC Athletics is thrilled to welcome Noreen Weber to the Timberwolves family.
