Box Score Saturday afternoon in Kamloops, the UNBC Timberwolves (0-8-0) fell 5-0 to the TRU WolfPack. Esi Lufo paced the Pack with two goals while Alexis Virgo, Mackenzie Lalonde and Makenna Ford added singles. Sophia Brandy chimed in with two assists for the hosts. UNBC goalkeeper
Johanna Rathke added 12 more saves to her country-leading totals while Floor Ursem earned the clean sheet without having to make a save for TRU.
Johanna Rathke was called into action early, turning aside three quality looks inside the opening 10 minutes. Coming into Saturday's match, the UNBC keeper carried a commanding 34-save cushion atop the conference saves leaderboard.
The Timberwolves also got a spark from Kamloops native
Grace Barrett, who earned her second start of the campaign. When the ball made its way to  TRU's defensive third, Barrett was a constant presence, battling to disrupt the WolfPack backline.
In the 21st minute, the hosts broke through. Sophia Brandy slipped a well-weighted pass into the area, where Mackenzie Lalonde converted  her second of the season.
TRU doubled their advantage later in the half when Alexis Virgo stepped up over a free kick. Her effort cleared the wall, dipped late, and deflected off Rathke's gloves before finding the top of the net for a 2-0 lead.
At the break, the WolfPack held a 7-0 advantage in shots on target and a 2-0 lead.
A scary moment for UNBC in the 55
th minute as local defender
Alysa Leclerc, who was making her first start of the season, sustained an unfortunate-looking lower-body injury. She had to be helped off the field and was eventually replaced by Kamloops local
Sydney Ludwig.
The third goal of the afternoon came from Lufo in the 63
rd minute, who took a pass down the left wing, cut to the net and placed the ball between Rathke's legs and in for her team-leading sixth. Branby earned her second assist of the day.
Ford made it 4-0 for TRU in the 66
th minute as she did well to knock down a centering pass in close, through a maze of bodies before she shoveled home her first.
Lufo's brace then came on the 74
th minute off a clever finish from the right wing.
Kate Rattee generated a few shot opportunities in the late minutes for UNBC, but they came up empty and the final whistle resulted in a 5-0 TRU win. The final shots on target were 16-0 for TRU.
UNBC returns to action next weekend on Vancouver Island against Victoria at 5:00 pm on Friday.
