Box Score Sunday afternoon  at Masich Place Stadium, the UNBC Timberwolves showed strong fight but ultimately fell 2-0 to the visiting UFV Cascades. 

Despite the result, the home crowd was treated to a strong performance from Prince George's own Alysa Leclerc, who earned Mr. Mikes Player of the Game honors for her skill, ball control, and tireless work rate.

The match began with the Cascades attempting to dictate the pace, but the Timberwolves defense was aggressive in intercepting passes. UFV earned an early corner kick in the third minute, leading to the game's first shot on goal, but UNBC goalkeeper Johanna Ratke was sharp and made the save. However, in the sixth minute, UFV's Eesha Mudaliar managed to break the deadlock with a well-struck shot from outside the box to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

UNBC quickly regrouped and ratcheted up their physicality. Fia Cameron delivered a highlight-reel slide tackle in the 12th minute to cleanly strip the ball. 

The Cascades kept pressing, but Ratke stood tall, making a brilliant save on a Kenzie Fitzgerald header off a corner kick. Looking for an equalizer, Aimee Glasser sparked the Timberwolves' attack, driving up the pitch and forcing a save from UFV keeper Alana Madec. 

After Hannah Rickards subbed in to provide fresh legs, Glasser nearly found the back of the net late in the half, but was tackled inside the box at the last second. 

Ratke made one final save on Emerson Toop right before the whistle, keeping the score at 1-0 heading into the break.

In the second half, the Cascades came out attacking, but the Timberwolves defense refused to break easily. Ratke continued her stellar play, logging her sixth save of the match by the hour mark to keep UNBC within striking distance. 

In the midfield, RJ Barfoot showcased strong tenacity, battling through multiple defenders to steal the ball and maintain possession for the T-Wolves.

The Timberwolves were dealt a tough break in the 79th minute when a fortuitous deflection landed kindly for UFV's Kiana Langston, who scored to make it 2-0. 
Down a pair, Leclerc continued to apply pressure for UNBC. The defender put her foot on the ball and completely neutralized the UFV pressure, using brilliant footwork to weave through traffic and push her team forward. 

The match also marked a milestone for the UNBC program, as Quinn Bradley subbed in to make her official Canada West debut. Propelled by Leclerc's energy, the Timberwolves earned a corner in the dying moments and nearly scored, battling right up until the final whistle.

The Timberwolves will look to secure a victory in front of their home fans on Friday, September 11, when they host the Trinity Western University (TWU) Spartans at Masich Place Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
