MSOC Preview: TWolves Enter Do-Or-Die Home Weekend Against Division Leaders from UBC

If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.
This weekend at Masich Place Stadium, the UNBC Timberwolves enter their weekend of the regular season with plenty still on the line. With two games remaining, Steve Simonson's club trails fourth-placed Trinity Western by one single point in the Pacific Division standings. Luckily for them, six points are still on the line as they prepare for two huge home battles against the unbeaten UBC Thunderbirds. The Trinity Western Spartans on the other hand have Saturday and Sunday road clashes with UBCO and TRU – both of whom are lower than them on the Pacific Division table.

The Matchups:
UBC at UNBC – Friday, October 17 – 6 pm
UBC at UNBC – Sunday, October 19 – 2 pm

UBC Thunderbirds:

Record: 13-0-1 (1st in Pacific Division)
Goals For: 35 (1st in Canada West)
Goals Against: 7 (1st fewest in Canada West)
Most Goals: Henri Godbout, Max Comsia (5)
Most Points: Luke Norman (9)
Most Saves: Jack Garner (23)

Player to Watch: Theo Afework

Rookie forward Theo Afework arrives to the final weekend leading all Canada West rookies in points (7). His four goals and three assists place him fourth in team scoring. One of Afework's best showings of the season came just last week on Thursday when he posted one goal and two assists in a 3-0 home victory against the Victoria Vikes.

UNBC Timberwolves

Record: 4-7-2 (5th in Pacific Division)
Goals For: 22 (5th in Canada West)
Goals Against: 27 (3rd  most in Canada West)
Most Goals: Jamie Wildash-Chan (5)
Most Points: Jamie Wildash-Chan, Wyatt Lyon (6)
Most Saves: Logan Pierce (39)

Player to Watch: Jamie Wildash-Chan

The first-year defender from Wellington, NZ will be plenty motivated this weekend as he'll go face-to-face with the only rookie in Canada West with more points than him. The Wildash-Chan/Afework showdown will be a great storyline to follow as a big weekend from either player would go a long way in possibly cementing an all-star nod, an all-rookie nod, or even a Rookie of the Year nod. Wildash-Chan has electrified Timberwolves fans all season with his speed, flash and creativity and they'll need him to bring plenty of the above this weekend against the division leaders.
