WSOC Preview: TWolves Wrap Up 2024 Season Down South vs. TWU and UFV

The Matchups:
UNBC at TWU (Friday, Oct 18 at 5 pm)
UNBC at UFV (Sunday, Oct 20 at 1 pm)

Trinity Western Spartans:

Record: 7-3-2 (2nd in Pacific Division)
Goals For: 20 (8th in Canada West)
Goals Against: 14 (6th in Canada West)
Goals Leader: Charity Field (4)
Assists Leader: Mansha Sidhu, Erin Stewart (3)
Points Leader: Mansha Sidhu (6)
Saves Leader: Yasmine Pahal (38)

Player to Watch: Tilly James, D

One of the most decorated defenders in recent Canada West history, James is a three-time conference all-star, including earning First-Team honours in 2023. The Vancouver product is strong on the ball and capable of chipping in offensively, often called on by coach Graham Roxburgh to have the ball at her feet. The Spartans are talented in possession, and often powered by their fourth-year leader on the back end.

Fraser Valley Cascades:

Record: 2-8-2 (7th in Pacific Division)
Goals For: 11 (14th in Canada West)
Goals Against: 28 (13th in Canada West)
Goals Leader: Kiana Langston (5)
Assists Leader: Jaya Bains, Camryn Lyon (3)
Points Leader: Kiana Langston (5)
Saves Leader: Alana Mader (28)

Player to Watch: Jaya Bains, M

It hasn't taken long for Jaya Bains to make an impact in her first year of action for the Cascades. The first-year midfielder has started eight of her nine games, including September 20th in Prince George, when she scored the first goal of her Canada West career in a 1-0 victory. The Surrey product graduated from high school in 2020, so brings true maturity and physicality to the midfield for Ari Adams's side.

UNBC Timberwolves

Record: 1-11-0 (8th in Pacific Division)
Goals For: 5 (16th in Canada West)
Goals Against:  37 (Tied for 14th in Canada West)
Goals Leader: Claire Turner (3)
Assists Leader: Kjera Hayman (2)
Points Leader: Claire Turner (3)
Saves Leader: Brityn Hinsche (109)

Player to Watch: Scarlet Thomas, M

She is often the smallest player on the pitch, but just don't tell  that to Scarlet Thomas. One of three Timberwolves to have already logged more than 1000 minutes this season, the first-year midfielder has been a tremendous addition to Neil Sedgwick's program. The five-foot-three product of Sydney, Australia is talented with the ball at her feet and doggedly determined when it belongs to the opposition.
