UNBC Timberwolves (1-4-1)
6th in Pacific Division Standings
4 Goals For (T7 in CW)
15 Goals Against (13th in CW)
Goals Leader: Michael Henman: 3 Goals
Assists Leader: Connor Lewis, Charlie Stewart, Isaac Tate, Theo Tate: 1 Assist
Points Leader: Michael Henman: 3 Points
Saves Leader: Daniel Zadravec: 44 Saves
Player to Watch: Maarten Grombein, D
With nine career games played coming into the season, Maarten Grombein was, by default, the senior member of the Timberwolves defense. In fact, each of the other four starting defenders are first-year players, so the native of Buch, Germany is leaned on for leadership and poise at the back end. Faced with a talented Calgary attack, the third-year will need to be steady for Steve Simonson's side as they look to climb into the Canada West playoff picture.
Calgary Dinos (0-3-1)
5th in Prairie Division Standings
4 Goals For (T7 in CW)
8 Goals Against (9th in CW)
Goals Leader: Derek Brust: 2 Goals
Assists Leader: Gianmarco Plenzik, Kundai Dziwa: 1 Assist
Points Leader: Derek Brust, Gianmarco Plenzik: 2 Points
Saves Leader: Liam Hunter: 16 Saves
Player to Watch: Derek Brust, F
One of two seniors on the roster, along with goalkeeper Liam Hunter, Derek Brust has put together a tremendous Canada West career over his time in Dinos colours. The long, athletic forward has 15 career goals, and is pacing Calgary early this season with a pair of goals. Brendan O'Connell's team leans on the veteran for production and leadership, and the young Timberwolves backline will have to pay close attention to the Calgary product.
