The UNBC Timberwolves Men's Soccer program is pleased to announce the commitment of Oskar Dewar (Penticton, B.C.) for the 2026 season and beyond.

Dewar joins the Green and Gold from Edge School for Athletes and Calgary West Football Club. The versatile defender/winger will begin studies in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program, with plans to major in Biomedical Studies.

Throughout his soccer journey that started at the age of 4, he has balanced success in both the classroom and on the pitch, earning Athletic and Academic Awards during his high school career.
Injuries limited his most recent outdoor season, but Dewar still recording three goals and two assists in four appearances. Comfortable playing as either a winger or full back, he brings versatility, pace, and a strong work ethic to the Timberwolves lineup.

For Dewar, soccer has always been about more than just competition.

"I love soccer because it pushes me to improve while also giving me opportunities to compete and work with teammates," he said. "I enjoy the energy of games, the overall intensity, and finally feeling accomplished after a good game or practice. Soccer has created countless memories and experiences, which is everything to me."

During his recruitment process, Dewar quickly felt at home in Prince George.

"I was very impressed by the facilities as well as the welcoming community and environment UNBC had to offer," he added.

The people he met during his visit also played a significant role in his decision, including head coach Steve Simonson.

"What impressed me the most about Coach Steve was how welcoming and supportive he was from the start. He made me feel welcomed right away and showed a great interest in me both as a player and as a person," reflected Dewar. "The team also stood out because of how friendly they were. They created a great environment that made me feel excited to become part of the team."

Simonson believes Dewar fits the Timberwolves mold in many different facets.

He claimed, "Oskar made a great impression during his visit, demonstrating the character and commitment on and off the field that fits our culture and overall team approach. We are excited to have him join us in the fall."

Away from soccer, Dewar is an avid mountain biker.

The Timberwolves are excited to welcome Oskar to the Timberwolves family and look forward to seeing his impact on the pitch and in the classroom in the years ahead.
