The UNBC Timberwolves 2026 Women's Soccer roster continues to take shape. Head coach Neil Sedgwick announced today that 2008-born defender Reese Brewer (North Vancouver, B.C.) has committed to the Green and Gold for 2026 and beyond.
The 5'9" Brewer plays for Burnaby FC under the watchful eye of head coach Dylan Barrett. In 2024 she captured a provincial silver medal. Brewer, a multi-sport threat, has also medalled twice in volleyball. Defensive positioning and commitment to leadership are two of her major soccer strengths.
Academically, she'll be pursuing a degree in Psychology at UNBC with the career goal of one day becoming a Sports Psychologist. In a few short months she'll graduate from Handsworth Secondary School.
After attending an ID Camp at UNBC in August, Brewer made a positive impression with both Coach Sedgwick and her future teammates. It's safe to say that the North and UNBC made an equally effective impression on her.
"The environment was really inviting and Neil gave a great first impression of coaching style along with his personality and set the tone for the rest of the program," reflected Brewer. "All of the current players were very welcoming and treated all of us campers as future teammates and not just as younger players."
Brewer's mix of talent, character and focus all stood out positively to Sedgwick who added, "We're excited to welcome Reese to the UNBC Timberwolves Program. With strong athletic potential, a deep desire to improve herself as a player, and existing ties to Prince George, Reese will be a dynamic addition. We look forward to seeing her make her mark in Timberwolves colours."
Outside of soccer, UNBC ticks a lot of boxes for Brewer, whose father Eric is a part-owner and alumnus of the Prince George Cougars.
The campus immediately stood out to me," shared Brewer who enjoys nature photography during her down time. "It's a great size and I love how naturally it blends into the surrounding environment. The mix of buildings, trees, and open spaces makes it feel welcoming, calm, and connected to the outdoors in a way that I really like."
The heightened pace and physicality of Canada West play have motivated Brewer to focus on building up her strength and speed during her offseason training.
UNBC Athletics is thrilled to welcome Reese Brewr to the UNBC Timberwolves family.
