Box Score Sunday afternoon in Prince George, the UNBC Timberwolves wrapped up their 2025 Canada West season with a 4-0 loss to the UBC Thunderbirds (14-0-1). Oliver Herbert, Markus Kaiser, Henri Godbout and Luke Norman provided the scoring for the 'Birds while Roko Vukic earned the clean sheet in goal. Logan Pierce made five saves at the other end for UNBC.
The opening half-hour was a defensive chess match, with both sides showing discipline. The best scoring chance came in the 13th minute when UBC's Kaiser ripped a low drive from inside the 18, but Pierce stretched out to his left, making a strong arm save to keep things even.
In the 30th minute, the breakthrough came for the Thunderbirds. After a brief defensive miscue by the Timberwolves, Herbert capitalized, converting from close range following some quick passing in tight. Theo Afework was credited with the assist.
Just two minutes later, UBC doubled their advantage through Kaiser, who made no mistake this time — unleashing a shot from inside the area some excellent work from Henri Godbout down the left flank to keep the play alive.
Shots on target through 45 minutes showed UBC with a 5-0 advantage.
The TWolves remained aggressive in the second half, using their speed to create uncertainty in the UBC defensive third. But the conference's top team was unflappable defensively, and managed to keep the ball out of their net despite two shots on target, and a handful of other promising looks from UNBC.
All hopes of a UNBC comeback ended in the 72nd minute when Godbout finished off a pass from Brandon Momotani. In the 90th minute, Norman rounded out the game's scoring with his second goal of the weekend.
With that, the season comes to an end for UNBC. They're record in 2025 was 4-9-2.
