Every name tells a story. Every name carries meaning beyond the game.
On Friday, October 3rd, the UNBC Timberwolves Women's Soccer team will take to the pitch in a way they never have before. For their 6:00 pm Canada West clash with Trinity Western, the Timberwolves will wear brand-new pink cancer themed kits as part of the program's first-ever
Kick for the Cure Night.
Designed by OneTEAM Sports Group and inspired by the pink uniforms introduced by UNBC Women's Basketball earlier this year, the jerseys continue an incredible tradition that carries deep meaning for countless people associated with UNBC Athletics. Down each side are the names of parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, and colleagues who have been affected by cancer. Some are survivors. Some were lost too soon. All are remembered, honored, and immortalized in this powerful new kit.
Every name on the jersey was chosen by a current or former member of the UNBC Women's Soccer program — creating a unique and deeply personal connection between the team, the game, and the fight against cancer.
"Seeing the names of loved ones on a UNBC Women's Soccer jersey is a powerful reminder of why we play — to honor their stories and to inspire hope as we push toward finding a cure for cancer," said Loralyn Murdoch, Director of Athletics and Recreation at UNBC. "The Kick for the Cure initiative is the first of its kind in Canada West, and we are grateful to our current players and alumni who came together to create something everlasting."
Fans are encouraged to join the Timberwolves on this historic evening both in the stands and beyond. Donations to the
