You can't draw it up much better than Matthew Pearse's opening weekend of the 2024 Canada West season. The second-year Victoria product had back-to-back braces in a pair of home victories against TRU and UBCO. For his efforts, Pearse captured Canada West Player of the Week honours. A member of the CW All-Rookie Team from 2023, Pearse is already just one goal shy of matching his rookie totals.

Player to Watch:

One of the key focal points of the UNBC attack last weekend in Abbotsford was fourth-year striker Connor Lewis. In the opener Lewis recorded the first goal of UNBC's season off a slick re-direct from Hagon Kim, and then on Saturday Lewis had a quality look at the UFV net in both halves. Lewis also reached a pair of impressive milestones over the weekend capturing both his 10th career Canada West point and also suiting up in his 40th career Canada West game.

Milestone Watch:
  • Charlie Stewart sits five games shy of 30 for his Canada West career.
  • Isaac Tate is three games shy of 20 for his Canada West career.
  • James Jordan is three games shy of 20 for his Canada West career.
  • Colin Stauffer's next start will mark his 10th in Canada West.
