After years of attending games, coaching local youth, and putting in the time with the Timberwolves Academy, Hannah Rickards is one-step closer to the next step of her soccer dream.

UNBC Timberwolves Women's Soccer head coach Neil Sedgwick announced today that 2008-born midfielder Hannah Rickards (Prince Geoge, B.C.) has committed to UNBC for 2026 and beyond.
Rickards, a soon-to-be graduate from College Heights Secondary, has been a fixture at Timberwolves games, training sessions and the Timberwolves FC Academy sessions in recent years as she's put in an incredible amount of work to get herself ready for the next chapter of soccer.

"It just feels right. This is the right place for me," shared Rickards who plays for UNBC Women's Soccer alumna Sydney Hall at College Heights Secondary and is coached by Mark Chadwick at the club level with PGYSA and the Timberwolves FC Academy. "I know Neil, the other coaches and all of the players so it's comfortable for me."

Vision, patience, and the long-ball are just some of her main strengths that she hopes to put to use at UNBC, and she believes that Coach Sedgwick can help improve the finer points of her game. Rickards observed, "Neil is just a coach like no other, with such expertise and knowledge. I'm grateful I get to learn from him and experience his full coaching ability."
 
The excitement is mutual as Sedgwick is thrilled to keep another solid player with Northern roots at her hometown university.
 
"We have known Hannah for years, and she has known the program. We are excited that she is staying close to home and going to attend UNBC," claimed the head coach. "Hannah's game insight and her commitment to growth are two of her strongest qualities. We are looking forward to the next four-to-five with Hannah."

"When I put that jersey on for the first time it's going to be an exciting moment. Being able to see friends, family, my old coaches and everybody who has helped me grow through the years in the stands is special," concluded Rickards.
