Box Score Thursday night in Regina, the UNBC Timberwolves fell 72-42 to the Regina Cougars. Kyu Fust (17), Jade Belmore (13) and Izzi Fust (12) all finished in double figures for Regina. Belmore (8) and Kyu Fust (7) also combined for 15 rebounds.
Viktoriia Filatova had a 12-point fourth quarter for UNBC to finish with a game-high 18 points while second-year forward
Halle Tiessen grabbed a game-high nine rebounds – four of which were on the offensive glass.
Regina began the night on a 12-0 run with five of the points apiece coming from Izzi Fust, and Cara Misskey. The first point of the night for UNBC came off a Boykova free throw, and
Sophia Fuller added a layup shortly thereafter to push the score to 14-3. After connecting on 17 threes last weekend in two games against Victoria,
Halle Tiessen notched the first of the night for UNBC late in the first, which inched the TWolves back within 12. Conversely the Cougars hit three-of-six from deep in the first and took a 24-12 lead into the second quarter.

th offensive rebound of the half. Boykova's first field goal of the night came late in the second to round out UNBC's scoring. At the other side, the depth of Cougars continued to shine as Misskey drained a three and Belmore finished a layup giving the Cougars a 20-10 advantage in the quarter and a 44-22 lead at half.
No Regina player reached double-digits offensively in the first half, but Izzu Fust (9), Belmore (9), Misskey (8) and Vanderhooft (8) combined for 34 of Regina's 44 points. Belmore led all Cougars with five first half rebounds. Leading the way at the half for UNBC was Filatova who had six points, two rebounds and a steal while Boykova had six rebounds to go along with four points.
Defensively, the Cougars kept UNBC scoreless through the opening six minutes of the third as they opened on an 8-0 run. Boykova ended the drought with a jumper, but soon back came the Fust sisters who combined for a three as Kyu Izzi drilled the bucket off a catch-and-shoot that started with a feed from sister Izzi. Boykova would add a second field goal for UNBC, but the Cougars ended the third with a 13-4 advantage a 57-26 overall lead.
A pair of successful free throws from
Amrit Manak and a layup from Filatova came in the opening two minutes of the fourth quarter. Filatova then arrived to double-digits for a fifth straight game thanks to a pair of successful free-throws, added three more buckets for good measure in the quarter to finish the night at 18. In response, Regina continued to spread the wealth offensively as Belmore, Kyu Fust (with a three), and Avery Sorenson all had fourth-quarter field goals in the opening five minutes and change.
With time winding down, UNBC rookie
Avin Jahangiri took advantage of some added playing time and drilled her first Canada West bucket on an elbow jumper to help round out a quarter where UNBC outscored Regina 16-15. The final score though at the end of 40 minutes read 72-42 for the hosts, who improved their record to 4-1, while the TWolves now sit at 1-4.
