Box Score Thursday night at the NSC the UNBC Timberwolves took to the court for the first time in 2026 and put forth a solid effort against the visiting UBC Thunderbirds. Unfortunately for Todd Jordan's club, they couldn't quite close the gap in the fourth quarter and UBC earned the 88-74 victory. Nikola Guzina (19) and Edouard Gauthier (17) led the charge offensively for the visitors while three separate Timberwolves: Isaiah Bias (19), Miller Davies (18) and Haukur Davidsson either matched or established new career highs offensively.

UNBC came out firing in front of a lively Thursday night crowd, taking a 24–19 lead after the opening quarter and setting the tone early at the NSC.

Miller Davies led the Timberwolves in the first, scoring eight points, while Justin Sunga filled the stat sheet with four points, three rebounds, and two assists. The crowd was engaged from the opening tip, knowing free pizza was on the line once UNBC connected on its third three-pointer of the night. Haukur Davidsson buried the first triple, Milan Pasquale added the second, and the anticipation only continued to build.

UBC kept pace behind Nikola Guzina, who poured in nine first-quarter points for the Thunderbirds, while Gus Goerzen and Edouard Gauthier chipped in three apiece.

The energy in the building reached another level early in the second quarter when Sunga knocked down UNBC's third three of the night, officially earning free pizza for the students in attendance. Sunga finished the quarter with five points, giving him nine at the half to go along with four assists, while Isaiah Bias added six points to help the Timberwolves maintain a narrow advantage.

UBC, however, closed the half strong. A late surge by the Thunderbirds swung the momentum, as Holt Tomie and Gauthier each scored six points in the quarter. UBC outscored UNBC 24–18 in the second and edged ahead 43–42 at halftime.

At the break, Guzina led all Thunderbirds with 11 points, while Davies paced UNBC with 12. Tomie and Sunga each handed out four assists for their respective sides, setting up an exciting second half.
UBC opened the second half with purpose, ripping off a 6–0 run. Guzina got things started at the free-throw line, while Goerzen and Tomie converted layups to push the momentum in UBC's favor. The Thunderbirds edged UNBC 20–15 in the quarter.

The lead swelled to as many as 10 points, but Todd Jordan's TWolves refused to fade. A gritty late-quarter push, fueled by Bias and Davidsson, brought UNBC back within five. The duo combined for nine points in the quarter, keeping the game well within reach heading into the fourth.

By the end of the third, UNBC showed impressive balance, with Sunga, Davies, Davidsson, and Bias all reaching double figures. UBC, meanwhile, leaned heavily on Gauthier and Guzina, who were the only Thunderbirds in double-digit scoring through 30 minutes.

Despite multiple chances to close the gap, UNBC was unable to get any closer than five in the final quarter. Each time the TWolves threatened, UBC had an answer.

Guzina took control down the stretch, pouring in six points in the quarter, while Zeru Abera added five to help anchor the Thunderbirds' offense. The pair combined for 11 of UBC's 25 fourth-quarter points as the visitors gradually pulled away to secure an 88–74 victory.

Bias led UNBC in the final period with seven points, but the TWolves couldn't generate enough offense late to overcome UBC's execution and composure down the stretch.
