After a tough weekend on the scoreboard and injury front, Todd Jordan's club is back to work. This weekend the TWolves will look to begin their Pacific Division standings climb when they battle the UFV Cascades (3-4) twice in Abbotsford.
On Saturday night in Kelowna, the TWolves suffered their third loss of three-points-or-less this season. The good news is that once again the TWolves were in the fight and this weekend will provide another opportunity for this up-and-coming squad to finish the job.
"We can't let injuries, and recent close results affect us negatively. It'll be important this weekend to play to our identity. We're excited to get out there against UFV," said local guard
Tony Kibonge who enters the weekend ranked #2 in the conference with 22 successful three-point field goals. The fourth-year Biomedical Studies student has twice reached the 19-point mark and has started each of the past six games for UNBC, while fast earning the trust of his teammates and coaching staff.
Kibonge will once again be looked upon to provide an offensive punch for UNBC, especially as injuries are becoming a factor.
At 3-4 the Cascades currently find themselves in a top-five spot in the division, and have relied on offensive depth to get there. Four different UFV players are averaging over double-digits offensively with third-year Spanish guard/forward Ismael Hernandez leading the way with 14.8 points-per-game. Heading into action tomorrow night, the Cascades have managed the seventh most points-per-game in Canada West.
The TWolves and Cascades begin their weekend tomorrow night at 8:00 pm, followed by a 6:00 pm rematch on Saturday.
