The 2025-26 version of the UNBC Timberwolves Men's Basketball team has played a thrilling, up-tempo style of basketball where the 2-3 record doesn't even come close to telling the complete story. Todd Jordan's club could 'easily' be 5-0 or some other positive variation considering how closely they've competed with every single opponent to date.
"We've put ourselves in a position to win every game we've played so far," claimed second-year guard
Isaiah Bias. "We're looking forward to these two battles with UBCO."
On October 26 at home, the TWolves put forth a strong outing against the visiting Heat but ultimately fell 73-71 in their home opener. The key difference that night? Free throws. The Heat went 15-for-19 from the line while UNBC went 15-for-36.
When UNBC is clicking at their best, they can play any way they want. Inside,
Evgeny Baukin has dominated opponents, and still sits #1 in both the conference and the country in scoring with an average of 26.8 points-per-game.
His running mate
Justin Sunga leads the conference with an average of 6.6 assists per game, and
Tony Kibonge's 15 three-pointers puts him tied for fourth in Canada West.
Since their two-point victory against UNBC on October 26, the Heat have followed with four straight losses, and come into Friday's action at ranked seventh in the Pacific Division with an overall record of 1-4.
Fifth-year guard Jalen Shirley is the straw that stirs the drink for UBCO. His 18.0 points-per-game are tops on the team, and his 27 points on October 26 against UNBC was a season-high.
