With the 2026-27 Canada West basketball season drawing closer, The UNBC Timberwolves are thrilled to welcome Ukrainian guard
Mykyta Kobylinskyi.
A native of Kyiv, Ukraine, Kobylinskyi has been playing basketball since the age of seven. The 6-foot-1 point guard developed his game at Obolon High School in Kyiv and with the 5-TEAM club program, earning opportunities to attend Ukrainian Youth National Team prep camps and to compete in international 3-on-3 competitions.
Kobylinskyi arrives in Prince George following a productive season in which he averaged 10.26 points, 4.0 assists, 2.4 steals and 4.0 rebounds per game.
Kobylinskyi will pursue a degree in Management Information Systems at UNBC.
"I want to become a better player, student and person in general," Kobylinskyi says as he begins his chapter in Canada at UNBC.
In the early months of training, Kobylinskyi has been very impressed by coach Jordan and his teammates. "I appreciate Coach Jordan's open communication and willingness to involve players in conversations about team strategy," he shared. "The guys accepted me right away in the early days, and now it's even clearer to me that they are positive and ready to help."
"Mykyta will bring an intensity and work ethic to our team that will immediately benefit our team culture," added coach Jordan. "He is extremely hungry to succeed and his impact, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, will help us right away. Long term, he has the right mindset to develop into a strong playmaker at the point guard position."
Off the court, Kobylinskyi annually visited and supported patients at Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv alongside his basketball team. He has also participated in charity tournaments to raise funds in support of Ukraine's Armed Forces, reflecting a desire to use his platform as an athlete to contribute to something larger than himself.
UNBC Athletics is thrilled to welcome Mykyta to the Timberwolves family.
