MBB: TWolves Drop a Thursday Home Matchup to Vikes

Thursday night at Brownridge Court, the UNBC Timberwolves (1-10) fell 91-58 to the undefeated and conference leading Victoria Vikes (11-0). Renaldo Robison (17), Sam Maillet (15), Ethan Boag (13) and Geoffrey James (12) all reached double-digits for the well-rounded Vikes attack while Evgeny Baukin led the TWolves with 14. Chris Ainsley added nine while first-year big Miller Davies posted eight points and four rebounds in his first career Canada West game.

1st Quarter –
  • Victoria led 25-15 after 10.
  • The Vikes began the night eight-for-16 while UNBC shot five-for-14
  • Evgeny Baukin shot three-for-three from deep in the quarter en route to a nine-point quarter.
  • Renaldo Robinson did the heavy lifting for the Vikes in the opening 10, shooting three-for-four and nabbing 10 points. Ethan Boag (6) and Geoffrey James (5) provided additional fire-power early for the visitors.
  • Miller Davies, appearing in his first career Canada West game, grabbed his first career Canada West field goal on a nifty inside finish. He'd finish the night with eight points and four rebounds in 17 minutes of action.
2nd Quarter –
  • Victoria outscored UNBC 30-14 in the second quarter.
  • Sam Maillet had a big second for the Vikes, potting 12 points on the strength of four threes. He went a perfect four-for-four from deep.
  • Robinson and Boag each added five for the Vikes. Boag led all Victoria rebounders with four at the halfway mark.
  • Baukin added five more to his totals and led all TWolves with 14 points at the half. Through 20 minutes, Baukin was five-for-10 from the field and three-for-three from beyond the arc. He also led UNBC with five first-half rebounds.
 
3rd Quarter –
  • Victoria outscored UNBC 23-12 in the third.
  • Ryan Gallagher led the way for the Vikes with six points while Scott Morozov tacked on four.
  • Five of UNBC's 12 points in the third came courtesy of Chris Ainsley who was a perfect three-for-three from the field through 30 minutes.
4th Quarter –
 
  • UNBC outscored Victoria 17-13 in the final quarter.
  • Leading the way for UNBC was Cam Lalli who tacked on six points while Wesley Ainu'u grabbed four.
  • Sergio Pereira, Aaron Tesfagoriorgis and Morozov all notched three points apiece in the final period for the Vikes.
 
The UNBC Timberwolves return to action at Brownridge Court on Saturday night at 7:00 pm against the Trinity Western Spartans.
